On April 25, 2026, the makers of a Malayalam film starring Kunchacko Boban and Lijomol Jose in the lead revealed its title and theatrical release date. Called Unmadham, the film sees popular editor Kiran Das turn director, while Panorama Studios and T Series bankrolled it.
Unmadham will be in theatres on August 7, 2026, much before the Onam releases swamp the market. According to reports, the film follows Kunchacko’s character, a police constable, as he juggles his personal life and the investigation into a cold case that may have supernatural undertones.

Kiran Das is known in Mollywood circles as the editor of films like Thondimuthalum Driksakshiyum, Joji, Moothon, Romancham, Rorschach, Joseph, and Ela Veezha Poonchira. Shahi Kabir, who has written Nayattu, Joseph, Officer on Duty, Ela Veezha Poonchira and Ronth, apart from serving as assistant director on Thondimuthalum Driksakshiyum, is credited for the story of the film. Kishkinda Kandam fame Mujeeb Majeed handles music while Kalai Kingson (Marco, Bhramayugam) is in charge of action.
According to the makers, Unmadham is not a typical cop drama and will mess with audiences’ heads, as they follow the constable’s investigations consuming not just his life, but his sanity as well. The question that everyone will have is about what is real and what isn’t, they add.
