Salim Ahamed's fifth Malayalam film, LEFTOVER, which stars Arjun Radhakrishnan, Zarin Shihab, Tanmay Dhanania, Shweta Basu Prasad, and Roshan Mathew, was announced by Newton Cinema on May 12
According to Salim Ahamed, "LEFTOVER comes from silence, memory, and moral urgency." It transmits a universal human experience, dignity without justification, and pain without spectacle. It gives me great pleasure to present the movie to the global industry through Newton Cinema, he added.
The film's screenplay was written by Salim Ahamed and P V Shajikumar, and it features cinematography by Sharan Velayudhan, editing by A. Sreekar Prasad, music by Christo Xavier, production design by Ashik S, sound design by Vishnu Govind, costumes by Gayathri Kishore, and makeup by Salam.
Salim Ahamed rose to fame with his directorial debut, Adaminte Makan Abu / Abu, Son of Adam, which won four Indian National Film Awards and was India's official Academy Awards entry. Pathemari, Kunjananthante Kada, and And the Oscar Goes To...are his other films.
"We are building a home for auteur cinema, for filmmakers whose work carries a signature and a conscience," stated Anto Chittilappilly, founder, CEO, and producer of Newton Cinema. "Our goals with LEFTOVER and our next slate are to support independent filmmakers, safeguard important and challenging narratives, and include marginalised perspectives in international cinema," he added.
