Tovino Thomas’ first release of 2026, Pallichattambi, is finally set to make its long-impending OTT debut. The period action drama, which is helmed by Dijo Jose Antony, will be streaming on Sony LIV from July 24. The movie had a theatrical release on April 15 but did not open to majorly favourable responses from the audience as expected. It is reasonable to speculate that this may have caused the OTT release to be delayed.

S Suresh Babu wrote the screenplay for the film. Kayadu Lohar, Vijayaraghavan, Siddique, Baburaj, Nibraz Noushad, T G Ravi, Johny Antony, Sudheer Karamana, Alexander Prasanth, Midhun Venugopal, and Eldho Mathew are also featured. In this movie, Prithviraj Sukumaran makes a brief appearance. Jakes Bejoy wrote the soundtrack for the movie.
Pallichattambi is set in a fictional place in 1958. The story takes place in the highland village of Kaaniyar, where hostilities between communist organisations and the Church are still growing. Church officials transport Christopher, also known as Krishna Pillai, from Thomapuram to the village to protect the weak as Pallichattambi (translated to 'church-goon').
Vimochana Samaram, a political movement to overthrow Kerala's first communist administration, served as a vague inspiration for the movie. Prithviraj Sukumaran's menacing portrayal of the antagonist Patellar is one of the film's appealing aspects. The movie will also be streaming in Tamil, Kannada, Telugu and Hindi on the same platform. C Qube Bros Entertainments and World Wide Films have bankrolled this film. Tovino’s other recent film, Athiradi, is also available to watch on Sony LIV.
