Balan The Boy, directed by Chidambaram, the filmmaker behind the blockbuster Malayalam film Manjummel Boys, based on a story and screenplay by Jithu Madhavan, the director Aavesham, had released in theatres on June 19, 2026, after its Cannes premiere. The film, starring Adhisheshan K. R., Muhammad Zinaan, Farzana Palathingal, Jean Paul Lal, Dolly June, Girish A. D., and Beena Antony, with Tovino Thomas in an extended cameo, had its digital partner in place at the time of the theatrical release.


Having opened to overwhelmingly positive reviews, Balan The Boy is now ready for its OTT outing. Zee5, which had picked up the streaming rights, announced the film’s digital debut. The platform has set July 31, 2026 for the film’s online premiere, adding that it will be available in the original Malayalam version, as well as in Tamil, Telugu and Kannada too.
