It was widely reported that KD The Devil, starring Dhruva Sarja in the lead, would be on OTT this week. In fact, it was said that Amazon Prime Video had picked the digital streaming rights and that the film would drop on the platform on May 29, 2026 – a month after the theatrical release. This was not confirmed by the team or the platform and then, late on May 28 came the official news. KD The Devil was not going to Prime Video but to Zee5. That should have been understood, given Rakshitha Prem’s long association with the network as judge on a reality show.

KD The Devil is headed to Zee5 and the streamer has announced June 5, 2026 as its streaming premiere date. June 5, incidentally, is a very busy day both in theatres and on OTT. Zee5 is bringing the much-hyped Mammootty-led spy thriller Patriot on the day in Malayalam, Kannada, Tamil, Telugu and Hindi. This is also the day when Dhurandhar 2 Revenge drops on JioHotstar for Indian audiences.

KD The Devil, which was meant to be a 2025 release, eventually made it to theatres on April 30, 2026. The film’s theatrical collection started well, but then fizzled out and is said to have made in the vicinity of Rs 24-26 cr world-wide. Reports suggest that it was made at a budget over Rs 75 cr, meaning that it is a box office failure. This is Dhruva’s second flop, following 2024’s Martin. The film, meanwhile, also starred Sanjay Dutt, Shilpa Shetty, Reeshma Nanaiah, Ramesh Aravind and Ravichandran, among others.
