Dhruva Sarja’s KD The Devil is, according to multiple reports, headed to OTT on May 29, 2026. The Prem directorial, which released in theatres on April 30, 2026, after several delays, had a decent opening weekend, but thereafter saw a steady decline in its theatrical collections, following largely negative reviews for the film. At the time of the release, an OTT partner was not listed, but it was later reported that a deal had been struck with Amazon Prime Video and that the film would begin streaming following the 4-week mark. However, earlier today it as revealed that the film is coming to Zee5, with June 5 the premiere date.

While neither the streamer nor the team has confirmed this development, KD’s theatrical run is as good as over. In the last couple of days, the film has been making as little as Rs 0.06 cr only. So, how much did KD make eventually? The film, according to sources, was made at a budget around Rs 75 crore, while its world-wide gross so far stands at Rs 24.01 cr (sacnilk.com), which includes Rs 1.4 cr from a Telugu version release. Independent trackers estimate that the film may have made a couple of crores more, but add that even with the reported Rs 17 cr revenue from the audio rights sale, the film failed to recover costs and is a failure.

KD The Devil, which also stars Sanjay Dutt, Shilpa Shetty, Reeshma Nanaiah, Ramesh Aravind, Ravichandran, P Ravi Shankar, among others, is a tale set in an earlier era. Dhruva played Kaali, a simpleton running a local kerosene dealership. Kaali is the younger brother of the righteous school master Dharma (Ramesh Aravind), and yearns for his older sibling to at least acknowledge his presence. While his brother’s acceptance means the world to him, Kaali is also equally fond of local gangster Dhak Deva (Sanjay Dutt), given that the latter had saved his life years ago.

When certain events unfold and Dhak Deva vows to end all of Kaali’s family, he has to turn to violence and defend his loved ones. Prior to the release, the film ran into controversy over the objectionable lyrics in a song featuring Nora Fatehi. The song did not make it to the theatrical version, but is expected to be added in time for the OTT outing.
