The most powerful super-hero, Homelander (Antony Starr), jacked up with V1 that makes him immortal and feeling like god – that’s what The Boys, Butcher (Karl Urban), Hughie (Jack Quaid), Starlight (Erin Moriarty), Kimiko (Karen Fukuhara) and MM (Laz Alonso), need to neutralize. They don’t know if Frenchie (Tomer Capone) and Sister Sage’s (Jessica Bradley) experimentation on Kimiko to use her regenerative power and replicate Soldier Boy’s nuclear chest blast is a success.
Turns out, Kimiko can blast the V out of a Supe and the first to get a taste of that is Sage, who loses her ‘super brain’ and smarts, after rage-baiting the former about Frenchie’s death. With that problem solved, they now need to infiltrate the White House, where Homelander is all set to announce his ‘coming’ as the god of America. Although they are almost ambushed as they make their entrance, they get a little help from Madam President Ashley (Colby Minifie).

They walk in on the Deep (Chace Crawford), sobbing his heart out after his most recent humiliation at the hands of Homelander and Starlight promptly flies him out of there for their little showdown. She tries to talk sense into him, but then tosses him into the sea, when she realizes that all that he wants is Homelander’s approval. The water, though, is the last place he should be in, what with his former near-and-dear ones baying for his blood since he orchestrated an oil spill that wiped out a sizeable chunk of ocean life.
MM silences Oh-Father’s sonic scream with one of his kinky sex toys, leaving the floor finally to the Butcher and Homelander showdown. Yes, they trade blows and Homelander nearly overpowers Butcher, what with Kimiko having starting trouble with her chest beam. But then Ryan (Cameron Crovetti), joins in to help subdue Homelander, while Kimiko comes to term with her grief and sends a directed blast that burns Compound V right out of Homelander.
Stripped of all his powers, Homelander’s basic nature – the snivelling coward – comes to the fore, as he begs Butcher to spare him, but gets his brains smashed out. His main mission – killing Homelander and avenging his late wife – finally accomplished, Butcher is ready to hang up his boots for a second chance, somewhere far off, with his dog Terror and Ryan for company. The young Supe, though, declines the offer, and then Terror dies, which drives Butcher to take up one more job. Spread the Supe killing virus, not only in Vought Towers, but across the world – something that Hughie cannot let him go ahead with.
They come to blows and Hugie finally manages too get a couple of bullets in Butcher and take him down. At Butcher’s funeral, The Boys finally split and go their separate ways. MM goes home and re-marries his ex-wife, while also taking Ryan under his wings. Kimiko heads to France to reminisce about her time with Frenchie, while Hughie and Starlight shack up, running their own start-up. She is still on vigilante duty, even while heavily pregnant, and helping those in need.
Soldier Boy (Jensen Ackles), who didn’t feature in the finale, will return in Vought Rising. This is a prequel to The Boys that follows the formation of the Vought Corporation and creation of the first generation of Supes, including Stormfront (Aya Cash) and Bombsight (Mason Dye), among others.
