Prime Video officially launches the live-action superhero TV series Spider-Noir in India on May 27, 2026. The US premiere of the eight-part series, created by Oren Uziel and Steve Lightfoot, took place yesterday, May 25, 2026, on MGM+. Sony Pictures Television and Amazon MGM Studios produce the show, which is an alternate reality story set within Sony's Spider-Man Universe (SSU) property.

Spider-Noir plot

Spider-Noir takes place in a 1930s New York City alternate reality and chronicles the story of Ben Reilly, a private detective who is getting on in years and secretly uses his heroic identity as the Spider. He is enticed to don the vigilante hat again when a web of mysterious cases and an intricate underground plot surface after he had temporarily disengaged from the life of crime after a personal tragedy—the death of a person named Ruby. Reilly faces growing street-level mayhem, as seen in promos, with some of his enemies transforming into superpowered monsters made of sand. The protagonist's flawed philosophy—"With no power comes no responsibility"—illuminates the show's sarcastic and grim investigative tone.

This is Nicolas Cage's first major role in a live-action TV series; he plays Ben Reilly/The Spider. According to the veteran actor, his performance is influenced by iconic actors Humphrey Bogart and Bugs Bunny to a lesser extent; he also relies on the work of James Cagney and Edward G. Robinson stylistically. Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, the show's executive producers, have painted this Reilly as a cynical old man who has had his big break.

Spider-Noir cast

The ensemble that provides support includes Lamorne Morris, who plays the role of Robbie Robertson, a hopeful and ambitious freelance journalist whose daring discoveries stand in stark ideological opposition to Reilly's pessimism. Li Jun Li portrays Cat Hardy, a femme fatale who sings in nightclubs and is embroiled in a major criminal plot, drawing inspiration from the likes of Anna May Wong and Lauren Bacall.

Partially influenced by her portrayal of Effie in The Maltese Falcon (1941), Karen Rodriguez plays Janet, Reilly's devoted assistant and investigative companion. A menacing Irish mob lord with ties to Reilly's past, Brendan Gleeson plays Silvermane, a philosophical outsider who sees the city's underbelly through glass.

Flint Marko/Sandman, played by Jack Huston, is a bodyguard whose own unpredictable abilities have led to a fatal illness. Lonnie Lincoln, portrayed by Abraham Popoola, is a World War I soldier seeking opportunities to ascend the ranks and establish himself as a formidable figure in the city.

Spider-Noir Indian streaming details

Amazon and MGM+ made a significant aesthetic decision by releasing Spider-Noir in two different visual formats—"Authentic Black & White" and "True-Hue Full Colour". The series will be accessible with multi-audio support for its May 27 Indian release on Prime Video. Languages other than English and Hindi will also be available for streaming, including Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam.

Between August 2024 and March 2025, the production wrapped up principal photography in Los Angeles. Nzingha Stewart, Alethea Jones, and Greg Yaitanes were the directors of the series' episodes. The show's hardboiled noir aesthetic and Cage's outstanding performance have garnered mostly positive reviews since its US debut.
