Samantha’s first major film role since 2023’s Kushi comes with Maa Inti Bangaaram, which she co-produced with husband Raj Nidimoru and Himank Reddy Duvvuru. The film, written by Raj and Vasanth Maringanti, and directed by Ala Modalaindi and Oh! Baby maker BV Nandini Reddy, released in theatres on June 19, 2026 and, reportedly, took a double digit opening, with fairly positive reviews pouring in for the action-packed family drama.

Maa Inti Bangaaram has hit theatres with its streaming partner in place. JioHotstar will host the film after its theatrical run, and the film is expected to drop after the 4-week mark. Samantha’s third collaboration with Nandini after Jabardasth and Oh! Baby, Maa Inti Bangaaram also stars Diganth Manchale, Gulshan Devaiah, Chaitanya Krishna, Manjusha Mukkavilli, Sreemukhi, Gauthami, Anand, Sri Lakshmi, Vennela Kishore, among others.

The plot of Maa Inti Bangaaram, meanwhile, is not the most novel, adapting a done-to-death trope of a former assassin returning to his/her violent ways when push comes to shove. Here, Samantha is Swarna, a retired assassin, who has settled for a life of domesticity with her husband Anirudh (Diganth), with whom she has eloped, much to the chagrin of his family. Since their wedding, Swarna’s life has revolved around trying to bring Anirudh’s family around and accepting them back into the fold.

But just when she begins to find her footing in the family, her world is thrown upside down when a threat from her past looms large. With the safety of her near-and-dear-ones at stake, Swarna must yet again embrace an avatar that she left behind years ago.
