Drishyam 3, the much-awaited third instalment in writer-director Jeethu Joseph’s popular crime drama franchise, was meant to be the final chapter in the tale about Georgekutty (Mohanlal) and his family, and the continued fallout of the events of one fateful evening. Would Georgekutty be able to keep his family safe and sound a third time too? That was the big question about Drishyam 3. The film, which released in theatres on leading man Mohanlal’s birthday, and has had a phenomenal box office run, is headed to OTT after a 4-week window.

Amazon Prime Video had picked up the streaming rights of Drishyam 3 and the streamer has announced June 18 as the premiere date. The film will be available in its original Malayalam version, along with dubbed audio in Kannada, Telugu and Tamil, much like the theatrical release. A Hindi version will not be available at this point, because the official Hindi remake with Ajay Devgn in the lead is currently in the making and will be in theatres on October 2, 2026.

Drishyam 3 also saw Meena, Ansiba Hassan, Esther Anil, Asha Sharath, Siddique, Murali Gopy and Kalabhavan Shajon reprise their characters from the earlier films, while Veena Nandakumar, Nikhil Nair, joined a bunch of new characters. Filmmaker Jeethu had warned audiences not to expect the thrills of the first two films and that he was presenting a more grounded emotional drama this time around. The film did not open to great reviews, but the popularity of the franchise ensured that the box office did not suffer.

The story picks up a few years after the events of Drishyam 2, with Georgekutty now having produced a film based on his script. Amid the success of his maiden production venture, Georgekutty is also trying to get his daughter Anju married. While seeking alliances for her, his only condition is that potential grooms not be based outside the country.

But when all efforts fail and a good match comes along in Dubai-based Avira (Nikhil Nair), Georgekutty agrees, only to then find out that his now son-in-law was part of an elaborate plan to ‘punish’ Anju for her part in the disappearance and death of former IG Geetha Prabhakaran’s (Asha Sharath) son, Varun. Can Georgekutty keep his daughter safe this time, considering that the odds are stacked heavily against her?
