Directed by debutant Shaneil Deo, Dacoit follows the story of Haridas (Adivi Sesh), an innocent man who spends 13 years in prison after being framed for a crime he didn’t commit. Fuelled by a desire for answers and revenge against his former lover, Saraswati (Mrunal Thakur), who he believes betrayed him, Hari escapes prison.
However, upon finding her, he discovers a woman living a desperate life, struggling to fund a life-saving heart transplant for her young daughter. In a surprising twist, the two former lovers form an uneasy alliance, embarking on a series of high-stakes heists to secure the money. Amidst the chaos of robberies and police chases, they uncover a larger conspiracy involving medical malpractice during the pandemic era.
The film boasts a powerhouse ensemble that blends South Indian stars with Bollywood veterans, including Anurag Kashyap (marking his Telugu acting debut as a police officer), Prakash Raj, Atul Kulkarni, and Sunil. The film features music by Bheems Ceciroleo and cinematography by Danush Bhaskar.
Released on April 10, 2026, Dacoit received a mixed-to-positive response from critics and audiences alike. While some found the plot overstuffed with too many twists, the chemistry between Adivi Sesh and Mrunal Thakur was lauded. Adivi Sesh was particularly praised for shedding his urban spy persona to play a rugged, emotionally vulnerable convict.
