Malayalam’s latest hit, Bharathanatyam 2 Mohiniyattam, is gearing up for online release soon. The movie, which stars Saiju Kurup in the lead role, will be streaming on Netflix from May 8. This is a sequel to the comedy Bharathanatyam from 2024, which can be watched on YouTube and Amazon Prime Video.

The film centres on Sashidharan, Bharathan Nair's oldest son. His family fights to maintain their status in their small town after his father expresses his last desire to see his illicit son and wife. Meanwhile, the sequel follows Sashidharan and his family trying to put Bharathan Nair's problems behind them in a new place. They deal with a murder among people who are suspicious of their activities at the same time.
The screenplay was also written by Krishnadas Murali, the film's director. Abhiram Radhakrishnan, Kalaranjini, Swathi Das Prabhu, and Sruthy Suresh return for the follow-up. Santhosh, Baby Jean, Jagadish, and Nisthar Sait all have important parts in Mohiniyattam. The sequel was unveiled in May of last year because of the appreciation Bharathanatyam received following its OTT release after a dismal theatrical run.
Among other major releases like Tovino Thomas' Pallichattambi and Kunchacko Boban's Oru Durooha Saahacharyathil, Mohiniyattam received positive reviews from the audience and emerged as a Vishu winner this year. In contrast to the first part's light-hearted premises, Mohiniyattam takes a genre shift to a dark comedic thriller that keeps viewers interested until the very end. Baby Jean, Saiju Kurup, and Kalaranjini in particular stole the show with their performances.
