Tamil actress Sanjana Krishnamoorthy, who starred in hits such as Lubber Pandhu and Thug Life, is all set for the theatrical release of her upcoming film, Parimala and Co. She discussed the movie and her role as Mani Ratnam's assistant director for Thug Life in an interview with The Cinema Post.

Sanjana stated that her biggest gratification with the upcoming Tamil action-crime drama DC is that it gives her distinctive opportunities to do things differently with both genre and character. DC is more difficult and intense, while my next film, Parimala and Co., is a dark comedy centred around a small eccentric family. Working with the entire team of DC, including the technicians and actors, was a delightful and fulfilling experience, she added, mentioning that she cannot reveal much about her character, Parvathi, in it.

The Lubber Pandhu actress went on to say that even if the subject matter of the film seems tense and hectic, she enjoyed filming her scenes in it. "I noticed people pointing out the film's graphic content and gory violence, but I think the plot of DC necessitates that kind of portrayal. She continued, "The makers have presented it in a way that is sure to appeal to the audience." Wamiqa Gabbi is playing the female lead in DC, which is expected to release in theatres soon.

Reflecting on her experience as Mani Ratnam's assistant director on Thug Life, Sanjana said that she was fortunate to have been working with him since she unconsciously developed a discipline. "Since I am an unintentional actor, I ultimately consider myself passionate about filmmaking. I am therefore happy that I went through the process of learning direction with a distinguished director like him," she said.

“Mani Ratnam’s set is fast and tedious for both actors and technicians, as the shoot starts at exactly 7am. Therefore, we must be ready and organised before the sun rises. For an aspiring artiste like me, it is truly rewarding to watch him concentrate on finishing the full project in fewer days with a plan in place," she remarked. Sanjana also portrayed Kamal Haasan's daughter in Thug Life, which she disclosed happened in the midst of the production period when Mani asked her to do a casual look test.

"Everyone knows that Jayaram and Urvashi have flawless comedic timing, and they both improvise spontaneously on set, which is interesting to watch as well as work with," Sanjana remarked. She continued by saying that they had assisted both her and Ananthika Sanilkumar, the actress who plays her sister on the set of Parimala and Co. They described how and when to improvise, what reactions to offer, and what makes the humour work better. "On set and during rehearsals, we were all friendly and cooperative," she said. Parimala and Co will be released in theatres on June 5.
