Known for her strict demeanour and a legendary anti-fraternization policy, Jackie has built an empire on the belief that personal feelings have no place in professional settings. Her world is thrown into chaos with the arrival of Daniel Blanchflower (Goldstein), a charming and driven newly-hired lawyer.
What begins as professional friction quickly evolves into a slow-burn attraction. As the two find themselves navigating late-night strategy sessions and high-pressure boardrooms, the line between professional restraint and romantic desire thins. The office romance soon becomes a secret affair that threatens Jackie’s hard-earned position and the very company she founded.
The film sees Lopez return to the rom-com genre, after recent action-heavy roles like The Mother and Atlas. Joining her and Golstein on the cast are Betty Gilpin as Jackie’s best friend Sydney, Jodie Whittaker as Daniel’s sister Lizzy, apart from Tony Hale, Amy Sedaris, Bradley Whitford, and Rick Hoffman.
The film is directed by Ol Parker (Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again, Ticket to Paradise). Interestingly, Goldstein also serves as co-writer alongside Joe Kelly, ensuring the dialogue carries that signature sharp, Ted Lasso-like humour.
