A former assassin/ secret service-CIA agent forced to return to violence to save self or family is a trope employed in countless Hollywood films over the years. BV Nandini Reddy’s Maa Inti Bangaaram, starring Samantha Ruth Prabhu in the lead, and written by Raj Nidimoru, among others, falls back on this exact premise. Samantha is a newly-wed in a traditional household, where she has to navigate the intricacies of being the picture-perfect daughter-in-law, while also keeping them all safe from dangers associated with her secret past.
The trailer of Maa Inti Bangaaram came out last night and at first look reminded one of more recent films like Priyanka Chopra Jonas’ The Bluff, Bob Odenkirk’s Nobody series and more. A protagonist with a buried past, putting his/her best skills to use again to keep their near-and-dear ones protected. For Samantha, it is Gulshan Devaiah who reminds her of her earlier avatar that her husband, played by Diganth Manchale, and his family are blissfully unaware of.
Amid learning what it means to get the daughter-in-law act just right, qualities that she doesn’t possess, what she can do really well is to risk everything to keep her family safe. She punches, kicks, slices and shoots her way through a bunch of thugs unleashed on the family, while keeping up the pretense of the sweet and calm daughter in law.

Maa Inti Bangaaram also stars Shreemukhi, Gautami, Srilakshmi, Anand, among others. The film is set for theatrical release on June 19, 2026, a date on which the south market did not have any major movies listed, but the buzz now is that superstar and now Tamil Nadu chief minister Vijay’s Jana Nayagan maybe released on that date. As of now, the banner, KVN Productions has blocked June 19 for Manjummal Boys maker Chidambaram’s Balan, while the Hindi film Cocktail 2 (Shahid Kapoor, Kriti Sanon and Rashmika Mandanna), also hits theatres that day.
