Dhruva Sarja’s KD The Devil will be in theatres on April 30, 2026. The film, directed by Prem, was reported to have run into censor issues and was referred to the revising committee, which in turn led to speculation of a possible postponement. But then, by releasing the trailer a couple of days ago, the team reaffirmed its commitment to bringing the film to theatres on April 30, 2026. It is still unclear if they’ve received the censor certificate, with no details updated yet on the CBSE site or on ticket aggregator sites.

However, it looks like everything will be sorted in time, because earlier on April 25, bookings for early morning shows (EMS) of KD The Devil on April 30, starting at 6 am, were opened at a few single screens. Ticket rates are in the Rs 250 to Rs 400 range only so far, but then multiplexes are yet to open bookings, so, it remains to be seen just how much KVN Productions will hike prices by. There will not be paid premieres of KD on April 29, affirms a source from the banner, adding that the film will release in around 250 screens in Karnataka.

KD, which also stars Sanjay Dutt, V Ravichandran, Ramesh Aravind, Shilpa Shetty, Reeshma Nanaiah, among others, with a special cameo by Kiccha Sudeep, was meant to be in theatres in 2025, but was then postponed to 2026. When the film’s promotions started, first with the teaser, then with a song featuring Nora Fatehi, there was furore over the violence in the film and the objectionable lyrics and choreography. While the lyrics were changed and song re-recorded, the choreography, of course, will remain.

KD is Dhruva’s first release since Martin and the film is getting a pan-India outing. It remains to be seen how critics, especially in the north Indian belt, react to the film, given that many of them received legal notices or copyright strikes for their negative reviews of Martin. The trailer that came out, which was later taken down briefly over inclusion of uncensored content, is not the most confidence inspiring, with the actor still in the Pogaru-Martin school of theatrics.
