In the last few days, social media was abuzz was abuzz with rumours that Rocking Star Yash’s much-awaited Toxic: A Fairy Tale For Grown Ups was being postponed again. Fans of the actor passed it off as unwarranted negativity from social media handles based out of the Telangana/AP belt, but turns out, they were right after all. Director Geetu Mohandas’ gangster film Toxic will not be in theatres on June 4, 2026.
A formal note was released on behalf of production house KVN Productions, stating that the film was being postponed following the encouraging response from global distributors, after Yash’s CinemaCon presentation. A new date will be announced later, but the buzz is that the film will not arrive earlier than August this year. It was earlier said that Toxic, which has been shot in Kannada and English, would be released in India and overseas in its Indian language versions on June 4, with the international release in English to happen at a later date. Could it be that the makers are targeting a simultaneous outing?
Yash, who has co-produced the film and has been credited with co-writer status also, issued a statement about the latest postponement, which will mark the film’s fourth proposed release date. The film was meant to be in theatres on April 10, 2025, which was then pushed to March 19, 2026 and, yet again, June 4, 2026, citing unrest in the Middle East, a major market for the film.
Kiara Advani and Yash in Toxic
“There are films we make, and then there are films that remind us why we fell in love with cinema. Toxic has been one such journey. Presenting our film at CinemaCon and witnessing the overwhelming global response reaffirmed what we have always believed—that this film deserves to reach its fullest potential worldwide. Toxic is complete, and we are currently aligning global distribution and partnerships. In light of this, we have decided to recalibrate our release timeline. While we will not be releasing on June 4 as announced earlier, we will be releasing at a later, globally aligned date. Toxic will come to theatres across the world soon,” he wrote.
Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups stars Yash alongside Nayanthara, Kiara Advani, Huma Qureshi, Rukmini Vasanth, Tara Sutaria, Sudev Nair, Akshay Oberoi, Balaji Manohar, among many others.
