On August 13, 2026, the music of Rocking Star Yash’s Toxic: A Fairy Tale For Grown Ups was launched in Mumbai in the presence of the cast and crew. The soundtrack features songs by Vishal Mishra, while the background score and a few specific themes have been composed by KGF fame Ravi Basrur. Notably, Basrur’s contributions are the Father-Son theme and the Blood on Blood theme, of which the former has caught the attention of netizens.
Several of them have turned to social media to point out that the Father-Son theme from Toxic is heavily inspired by Hans Zimmer’s soundtrack for the Hollywood movie Dune. “Ravi Basrur OTOH has blatantly lifted Dune/Zimmer soundtracks”, wrote one, while another chimed in, “Basrur n his never ending love story with zimmer bhai continues , but this time with ripples in the sand from dune. It's time he should start getting inspiration from lesser known composers."
Netizens point out the similarities in Basrur's composition and that of Zimmer in Dune
One user even shared the video of a live cover of Zimmer’s Dune Soundtrack themes concert series, featuring singer Diana Ankudinova, who, interestingly, is credited on the Father-Son Theme as well. “There you go ... He didn't even try. Same hange hadamma”, the user wrote. Another added, “Looks like Basrur Anna has done a Anu Malik for Toxic from Dune.”
Toxic, directed by Geetu Mohandas, who shares writing credits with leading man Yash, is headed to theatres on August 26, 2026. The film, a gangster tale set in an earlier time period, has Yash in at least two confirmed roles, and sporting three distinctive looks. The film also stars Kiara Advani, Rukmini Vasanth, Nayanthara, Huma Qureshi, Tara Sutaria, Sudev Nair, Akshay Oberoi, Balaji Manohar, among many others.
