The investigative drama Kartavya will finally be available to stream worldwide in May 2026, according to Netflix's official "Coming Soon" section. Ever since its original revelation during this year's "Next on Netflix India" showcase, the film — produced by Shah Rukh Khan’s Red Chillies Entertainment — has been a widely anticipated title. The project is a cornerstone release for the summer season and a substantial addition to the platform's Hindi original portfolio for the second quarter of the year.
Featuring Saif Ali Khan as police officer Pawan Malik, the story takes place in rural India. Malik finds himself entangled in a complex web of professional duty and personal sorrow when his investigation work jeopardises his family's safety. A police officer faces tough decisions when his convictions and the need to stay alive meet in this script that examines the relationships between law, truth, and moral obligation. Khan has been away from the police procedural genre on OTT for a while, but this role represents his comeback after his stint in Sacred Games.
The 2024 film Bhakshak was Pulkit's first big collaboration with Red Chillies Entertainment and Netflix; Kartavya is his second feature-length work with the streaming service. Joining Khan in the starring role are Rasika Dugal, Sanjay Mishra, Saurabh Dwivedi, Zakir Hussain, and Manish Chaudhari. According to those involved with the production, the film stays true to Pulkit's brutal realist roots while emphasising character depth and emotional implications rather than conventional action tropes.
Kartavya will debut alongside Netflix India's tenth anniversary celebrations, showcasing a diverse slate of high-budget films and shows. The streaming giant has released first looks and teaser images for the film. It is anticipated that the film will drive significant viewership due to Khan's history in the streaming arena and the established collaboration between Red Chillies and Netflix.
