GV Prakash’s Happy Raj had frozen its OTT deal before the theatrical release, and is now set for streaming only 4 weeks after it hit theatres. The film, directed by Maria Raja Elanchezian, which came out on March 27, 2026, had been picked up by Amazon Prime Video for its post-theatrical streaming rights and the streamer then set April 24, 2026 for its debut on the platform. The film will stream in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam.
When Happy Raj released in theatres, reviews were not favourable, with the film being dubbed outdated, despite being engaging in parts. In fact, it was noted that there was an interesting core, which the team did not capitalize on. Happy Raj also stars Sri Gouri Priya, George Maryan, Geetha Kailasam, Adhirchi Arun, Madhurai Muthu, among others. Justin Prabhakaran handled music, while cinematography was by Madhan Christopher.

In the film, GV played Anand Raj, aka Happy, who has everything he needs to impress women, but always fails to do so because of his oddball father Kathamuthu (George Maryan), who is often rebuked as kuthira muttai (horse egg). Eventually, Happy finds love in Kavya (Sri Gouri Priya) who treats his father with the dignity he deserves. But then, the families meet and everything goes haywire.
Happy Raj was GV’s second release of the year, following Lucky the Superstar. His upcoming projects include Adangathey, Idimuzhakkam, Mental Manadhil, Immortal, Aayiram Janmangal, 4G, Kadhalikka Yarumillai, among others. The film comes to OTT at a time when exhibitors have been actively pushing for an 8-week window between theatrical outing and streaming, as is followed in Bollywood.
