Drishyam follows the family of cable TV operator Georgekutty, whose family is forced to construct an elaborate tale about their whereabouts on a particular day, when the son of a high-ranking police official went missing. The boy, Varun, had been harassing Georgekutty’s daughter Anju (Ansiba), and ends up dead following an altercation with her and her mother, Rani (Meena). While Georgekutty takes care of the body, the unbreakable alibi he creates for the entire family saves them.
In the second film, the story picks up a few years later, with Georgekutty now the owner of a movie hall and prepping to produce a film. New evidence leads the police to discover Varun’s remains, but Georgekutty manages to switch the bones and keep his family safe yet again. The film ended with him providing Varun’s family the actual remains for them to conduct his last rites.Netizens speculate that the third film will have Georgekutty’s younger daughter throw the rest of the family under the bus.
