Days ago, the buzz in Sandalwood circles was that the release of Action Prince Dhruva Sarja’s KD: The Devil was likely to be affected owing to issues with its censor certification. The team, including director Prem had claimed that the regional censor board had recommended A certification, given the extreme violence in the film. But instead of issuing the certificate and paving the way for the film’s release, the officials then referred it to the revising committee, without intimating the movie team.

Then, all of a sudden, they announced a trailer release and their commitment to bringing KD The Devil to theatres on April 30, 2026 after all. Speaking at the trailer launch, Dhruva repeatedly remarked that his film is a family entertainer and that even children could watch it, despite the violent bits in the narrative.

KD is a gangster drama set in the 70s. Dhruva is paired with Reeshma Nanaiah, who was introduced by Prem in 2022’s Ek Love Ya and was seen in Upendra’s UI as well. The film also stars Sanjay Dutt, Shilpa Shetty, Ramesh Aravind, Ravichandran, among others, with Kiccha Sudeep in a pivotal cameo. Music is by Arjun Janya and cinematography by William David.

KD is Dhruva’s 6th film only and is his first major release since the disaster that was Martin. The actor was recently seen in a cameo in his uncle Arjun Sarja’s Seetha Payana. Up next, he will be seen in Criminal, opposite Rachita Ram. The actor will also star in 777 Charlie maker Kiran Raj’s next, a sports drama, for which he has shed much of the muscle mass he gained for Martin, to sport a much leaner physique.
