The family entertainer, which is helmed by Oru Vadakkan Selfie-fame G Prajith, is now streaming on ZEE5 with English subtitles. The primary reason Ashakal Aayiram is a must-see movie is Jayaram's on-screen reunion with his son, Kalidas Jayaram, after a 22-year hiatus. The two played father and son in Kochu Kochu Santhoshangal and Ente Veedu Appuvinteyum, which is still rewatched for its humorous and poignant moments.

Ajeesh Hariharan, popularly known on social media as Junior Prince, is the film's main character played by Kalidas Jayaram. He is a carefree young man who wants to be a celebrated actor. A movie shoot in his neighbourhood drastically alters his ordinary life and brings him closer to his ambition. How he slowly goes through self-discovery and mends his relationship with his close ones forms the crux of the movie.
Despite the film's dismal run in theatres, viewers said it was interesting to watch because of the father and son's light-hearted connection against the backdrop of a moving drama that explores shifting familial ties. The movie is expected to garner more audience online, making it a perfect watch for this weekend.
