Anna From Mexico, which marks Badava Rascal maker Shankar Guru’s second outing as writer and director, was officially launched in December 2023. But it is only now that the team is finally ready to give audiences a glimpse into the world they are set to introduce to audiences. On April 23, 2026, the team revealed a teaser in which Dhananjaya’s character is seen introducing Kannada cinema’s most favoured weapon, the long, to a bunch of Mexican adversaries whom he addresses as his ‘amigos’ before obliterating all of them with said instrument.

In a media interaction last year, Dhananjaya had said that Anna From Mexico would be his next release. This will be the actor’s first as leading man since 2024’s Kotee. He had significant roles in films like Pushpa 2 and Zebra, besides cameos in Vidyapati and Parashakti, making Anna From Mexico all the more important.

Dhananjaya wanted Anna From Mexico to be a late 2025 release, but delays in production meant that they could not stick to that plan. The teaser also does not provide any information about a possible release window, but given that the film was 70% done a year ago, it would be safe to assume that it is at least in post-production now if not closer to making it to theatres.

Produced by Satya Rayala’s Rayala Studios in association with Aaira Films, Anna From Mexico pairs Dhananjaya with Reeshma Nanaiah, while Vasuki Vaibhav returns, who worked on Badava Rascal as well, returns as music director. Dhananjaya’s pals Poorna Mysore and Nagabhushana are also in the film, which the team has described as an action-packed family entertainer.
