Director Vysakh's action entertainer Khalifa, starring Prithviraj Sukumaran in the lead, introduces a new actress in cinema. Tamil-born Kyraa has made her big screen debut with Khalifa, which hit screens across the globe on August 20, 2026. The Cinema Post, caught up with the debutante about her launchpad.
She said with excitement, "I would like to think that Khalifa is something that I have manifested for a long time and Vyshnavi (her character) was meant to happen to me." After seeing Kyraa's photos posted on renowned cinematographer and film director PC Sreeram's social media handles, Khalifa's producers called her to an audition. Kyraa has been an active member of the theatre group, Adishakthi. "Sreeram Sir took my photos during an Adishakthi programme and shared them on his page, accelerating my visibility. " Director Vysakh had also seen my theatre work on social media platforms. I went to Kochi a few times to audition for Vyshnavi in Khalifa," she continued.
Kyraa stated that she has seen several of Mohanlal's films as well as other popular ones, which has made her a fan of this industry. "When I received the call informing me that I had been chosen, it was undoubtedly unexpected. I briefly told myself, "Okay, it's happening!" She acknowledged her gratitude to Vysakh and Jinu Abraham for the chance.
She continued by describing how considerate every member of the cast and crew was on the Khalifa sets. "Even though I had this pressure to give my best, I didn't feel it a bit on the set because everyone made it a comfortable space to learn and improve," she said. "They guided me to focus on details." Since her character, Vyshnavi, is a young woman of Malayali-Tamil descent, Kyraa has also dubbed her role in this big-budget action thriller. She exclaimed, "I am trying to learn the language and understand its nuances better after this."
Kyraa also mentioned that she wanted to work on more projects that would give her greater possibilities to perform. "I want to take on challenging roles and experiment with different genres. She stated, "I am currently in talks for a Tamil project about which I can't reveal much."
