Drishyam 3, the highly-anticipated final chapter in writer-director Jeethu Joseph’s crime drama franchise is headed to OTT on June 18, 2026, after a successful 4-week theatrical outing. The Mohanlal-led film released on the actor’s birthday on May 21 in the Malayalam original version, as well as with Kannada, Tamil and Telugu audio options. The original has had a phenomenal box office run, while the other language versions did not quite measure up.

Ahead of Drishyam 3’s premiere on Amazon Prime Video, here’s a look at the film’s theatrical business, which has pegged it as the fourth highest grossing Malayalam cinema, behind movies like Lokah Chapter 1, Empuraan and Manjummel Boys and marginally ahead of the likes of Vaazha 2 and Thudarum. At last count, Drishyam 3 was reported to have grossed just under Rs 240 cr world-wide (Rs 239.20 cr), with most of if it coming from the Malayalam original. The Telugu version contributed Rs 7.61 cr (net), Tamil Rs 3.69 cr (net) and Kannada Rs 1.74 cr (net) respectively.
This puts Drishyam 3 a tad below Manjummel Boys, which reportedly made Rs 242 cr. The film is still in theatres, but unlikely to push past Chidambaram’s survival thriller, especially since it drops on OTT in only a few hours. Drishyam 3 brings back regular cast members like Meena, Asha Sharath, Siddique, Ansiba Hassan and Esther Anil, while returning charactes include those played by Murali Gopy, Kalabhavan Shajon, among others.
Drishyam 3 picks up a few years after the events of Drishyam 2, with Georgekutty (Mohanlal), now a debut film producer with a hit on hand. His wife Rani (Meena) hopes and prays for a good match for their daughter Anju (Ansiba), but despite their honesty regarding the police investigation into IG Geetha Prabhakaran’s son’s disappearance, nothing works out, what with Georgekutty’s criteria for prospective grooms.
Eventually, one match is fixed, and all seems well for the family. But with Anju now away from the protective net of her father, she becomes the target for an earlier villain’s retaliation. Can Georgekutty save his daughter this time too?
