Mandaadi story
Soori’s Mandaadi revolves around an unusual sporting backdrop — a boat race held in the sea. Soori plays Kali, a former sailboat player who leaves his village for Chennai. However, he eventually returns to his hometown, where the much-awaited boat race is set to take place. Kali has a mission, and whether he manages to achieve it forms the central conflict of the film. The mystery surrounding his mission is one of the elements that keeps the audience engaged.

Directed by Mathimaran Pughazendi, "Mandaadi" has several cinematic moments that have the potential to enthral the audience. The biggest strength of the film is its presentation of the sea-based boat race. The sequences have been shot effectively, giving the sporting portions a strong visual appeal.
The climax, in particular, stands out. The combination of the boat race and the action sequences creates an engaging cinematic experience, and the staging of these scenes works particularly well.
The story itself does not offer anything particularly new and follows several familiar beats of the sports-drama genre. However, it is the execution that makes "Mandaadi" work.

Soori in Mandaadi
Soori delivers an impressive performance as Kali, particularly during the emotionally charged and action-heavy climax. His portrayal gives the character the required intensity. Mahima Nambiar also gets an important role as Angel and makes her presence felt throughout the film.
Sathyaraj, meanwhile, plays a key role in the narrative and delivers a performance that adds weight to the proceedings. The music by GV Prakash Kumar is another positive aspect of the film. The songs complement the mood of the story and add to the overall cinematic experience.
Verdict
Mandaadi may not bring a completely fresh story to the sports-drama genre, but its effective execution, impressive sea-based boat-race sequences and strong performances make it an engaging watch. The climax, in particular, is one of the film’s biggest strengths.
