The Devil Wears Prada 2 is due to launch on JioHotstar in India after its global theatrical run, and the platform has officially acquired the digital rights. On May 1, 2026, the sequel will finally hit theatres after much anticipation. Not long ago, on April 20, the OTT platform live-streamed the red carpet arrivals from the international premiere at New York's Lincoln Center for the Indian users.

Along with returning actors Emily Blunt and Anne Hathaway, Meryl Streep reprises her role as the strong Miranda Priestly in the sequel. Nearly two decades after the original film's release, the story resumes with Priestly still grappling with the challenges of a world where print media is being replaced by digital platforms. In a dramatic change of fortunes, Blunt's Emily Charlton resurfaces as a powerful senior executive at Dior, casting her as the main rival of her previous company. Now a seasoned features editor, Hathaway plays Andy Sachs again.

Twenty-First Century Studios India, a division of the newly established JioStar company, is responsible for the film's distribution in India. For Disney's worldwide tentpole releases in the area, JioHotstar is now the go-to venue. Adding the sequel to the streaming platform's library is a calculated move to capitalise on the original's enduring cultural significance among Gen Z and millennials in India.

The Devil Wears Prada 2 has new cast members, such as Simone Ashley, as well as returning director David Frankel and screenwriter Aline Brosh McKenna. Keeping with the spirit of the original, this film seeks to update the fashion business satire. The OTT premiere on JioHotstar is anticipated to attract a large audience and encourage active subscriptions, especially considering the overwhelming demand for the theatrical pre-sales in major Indian cities.
