Ashwin Kumar’s second film in the Mahavatar Cinematic Universe (MCU) has officially been announced. This time around, he is set to bring the tale of Mahavatar Parshuram to the big screen. Titled Mahavatar Parshuram, the film is being jointly produced by KGF and Kantara makers Hombale Films and Ashwin’s Kleem Productions. The title announcement came on the occasion of Parshuram Jayanti on April 19, 2026. The team also revealed that the film will be in theatres in December 2027, with Sam CS yet again in charge of the music department.
In 2025 July, Ashwin released Mahavatar Narsimha, an animated feature film about Bhakta Prahlada and the circumstances leading to the arrival of Lord Vishnu as the Narsimha avatar. Ashwin’s Kleem Productions made the film over a span of 5 years, following which they tied up with Bengaluru-based Hombale Films to bring it to theatres.
Mahavatar Narsimha released in Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam, Tamil and Telugu, and had a stupendous theatrical run, grossing over Rs 300 crore.
Mahavatar Narsimha and now Mahavatar Parshuram are part of a 7-film franchise, which will also include Mahavatar Raghunandan, Mahavatar Dwarakadish, Mahavatar Gokulananda and the two-part Mahavatar Kalki, all of which Ashwin hopes to complete by 2037. The official poster of Mahavatar Parshuram states that 'when dharma fails, the parshu rises'.
Mahavatar Parshuram will follow the tale of lord Parshuram, the sixth avatar of Lord Vishnu, a fierce warrior who is regarded as a symbol of righteousness and courage, born to rid the world of corrupt and tyrannical kings. The film will detail how he was granted his axe (parshu) by Lord Shiva and his sustained crusade against corruption.
