Actor Saiju Kurup is slated to star in another ambitious Malayalam movie titled Harivarasanam, following the huge success of Mohiniyattam. The makers officially unveiled the film’s title poster today (May 28) on social media.

The film is directed by Rajesh Nair, who previously helmed Biju Menon's Salt Mango Tree and Jayasurya-starrer Thrissur Pooram, and is produced by Vinayaka Ajith under the banner of Ajith Vinayaka Films. Dr Ampadhy K wrote the screenplay and the story of this project. The movie, which also stars a number of well-known South Indian actors, is presently nearing the end of pre-production. The movie is said to be about devotion and the famous Sabarimala temple of Lord Ayyappan, based on the poster.

For the filming of Harivarasanam, a huge temple-like set is being built at Chitranjali Studio in Thiruvananthapuram. After the popularity of Malikappuram, Ranjin Raj will compose the soundtracks for this spiritual and emotionally impactful project. It's interesting to note that Saiju had a significant role in Malikappuram, which likewise explored themes related to Lord Ayyappan and the Sabarimala temple.

The technical crew of Harivarasanam includes Sajad Kaakku as the cinematographer, Ajiesh Edamon as editor and Stephy Zaviour as costume designer. Filming for the movie is set to start in Thiruvananthapuram in July. After the start of the production phase, the remaining cast details should be made official.

Saiju Kurup’s latest film, Bharathanatyam 2 Mohiniyattam, was a huge box office success. The dark comedy, which also stars Baby Jean, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Jagadish and Vinay Forrt, is now streaming on Netflix.
