Pritam and Pedro story
Set in Goa, the series introduces Pedro (Arshad Warsi), an old-school police officer who struggles to adapt to modern technology. In contrast, Pritam (Vir Hirani) is a brilliant hacker whose troubled past forms the emotional core of the narrative.
The story begins with the abduction and blackmail of the Sports Minister's son. Pritam is brought in to assist the investigation with his technical expertise along with Pedro. Their partnership soon becomes the driving force of the series.
Pritam and Pedro review
Pritam and Pedro works primarily because of the chemistry between its two lead characters. The interactions between Pedro and Pritam generate plenty of humour, making their investigative journey consistently engaging. Arshad Warsi's effortless comic timing remains one of the biggest strengths of the series.
The series directed by Avinash Arun also attempts to raise awareness about online dangers, particularly the infamous Blue Whale challenge and the growing influence of technology, virtual reality, and online games on children. These social themes are integrated into the narrative without becoming overly preachy, adding emotional weight to the otherwise light-hearted thriller.
However, while the comedy is entertaining, the investigative portions rarely offer anything fresh. Many of the twists and procedural elements feel familiar, preventing the series from becoming a truly gripping thriller. The screenplay relies more on the charm of its lead characters than on unpredictable storytelling.
Arshad Warsi delivers an entertaining performance, while debutant Vir Hirani complements him well with a restrained portrayal of Pritam. Vikrant Massey makes an impressive impact in his extended appearance, and Mona Singh plays a significant supporting role. Boman Irani also appears in a brief but notable cameo.
On the technical front, the cinematography deserves appreciation for capturing the scenic beauty of Goa, giving the series a vibrant visual appeal. The background score also supports the light-hearted tone effectively.
Pritam and Pedro verdict
Pritam and Pedro is an entertaining comedy thriller that borrows heavily from the template of a commercial film. Although its investigation lacks novelty, the engaging chemistry between Arshad Warsi and Vir Hirani, coupled with humour and a socially relevant message, keeps the series watchable.
If you're looking for a light, family-friendly entertainer with comedy and investigation, Pritam and Pedro is worth watching once. It's now streaming on Jio Hotstar.
