The trailer of KD The Devil, Dhruva Sarja’s next, which has him unite with showman Prem, was released on April 22, 2026. The nearly 3-minute trailer does not really offer much by way of the plot of the film, but builds on the film’s very ‘bloody’ premise. Dhruva and Sanjay Dutt take turns chopping body parts and splattering blood all over, with the latter even seen biting down on an arm he’s just severed. It’s quite the carnage.

Dhruva’s character Kalidasa (KD) and Macchu Laxmi’s (Reeshma Nanaiah) overly dramatic romance gets more screen time in the trailer than both Ravichandran and Ramesh Aravind together. None of these are high points either. Between Reeshma, Dhruva and Shilpa Shetty, there is also a lot of shouting that is pretty jarring to the ear. And all of this takes place in the most unnatural setting - sets that scream sets without a word being said.

KD The Devil will be in theatres on April 30, 2026. The film also stars Kiccha Sudeep in a pivotal cameo, while Nora Fatehi has done a special number, which ran into trouble earlier over the offensive lyrics. Such was the furore around the song that the makers had to take it down from all platforms. The film will feature the number with a revised version of the song.

KD The Devil is Dhruva’s 6th film as leading man and comes after his last, Martin, which was widely panned and had the film’s team actively take down negative comments and reviews. KD was announced in 2022, but went in floors only in late 2024. The film was rumoured to be a likely 2025 release, an idea that the makers also entertained, but that didn’t materialize eventually.
