There's a Malayalam thriller that made its OTT during the Onam festive holiday season. LURK began streaming on Sun NXT from August 26. The movie, helmed by M A Nishad, stars Saiju Kurup, Manju Pillai, and the director himself in lead roles.
LURK is a survival thriller that is set deep in Kerala's forests and examines the precarious coexistence of people and wildlife in the face of social indifference. This Onam holiday season, the film, which develops into a gripping tale of survival, is an ideal choice to watch online. Prithviraj Sukumaran’s latest money heist thriller i’ Nobody also began streaming on JioHotstar from August 25. Neeraj Madhav and Althaf Salim-starrer Pluto became available on Saina Play at the beginning of this week.
M A Nishad is widely recognised for his prior films such as Best of Luck, Vairam, and No. 66 Madhura Bus. The director had earlier claimed in a social media post that LURK will start important discussions on various platforms. He wrote on Instagram, "This time, the focus is on the urgent issue of man-animal conflict, which is both contemporary and critical to our society."
The film was selected for the Madhya Pradesh Film Festival, Kolkata Better Earth Film Festival, Karnataka International Film Festival, and International Film Festival of Sri Lanka and Ceylon. Jubin Jacob and Nishad have penned the screenplay for the movie, which released in theatres in July. Aju Varghese, Anumol, Muthumani, T G Ravi and Jaffer Idukki also play supporting roles in this mystery thriller.
