Lokesh Kanagaraj, the maker of films like Kaithi, Master, Vikram, Leo and Coolie, among many others, turned actor recently, with a full-fledged lead role, with the Arun Matheswaran directed DC. Lokesh had made cameo appearances in his Master and the more recent Jana Nayagan, but in DC, the stakes were higher, as the entire film rested on his shoulders. An action-packed film, DC opened to fairly positive reviews when it hit theatres in early August and it is now headed to OTT.

The digital streaming rights of DC have been picked up by Sun NXT and the platform recently announced that the film would be available to subscribers from September 4, 2026. Written by Arun, who’d made Captain Miller earlier, DC featured music by Anirudh Ravichander, while the cast also included the likes of Sanjana Krishnamurthy, Wamiqa Gabbi, Thalaivasal Vijay, Avinash Raghudevan, Srikrishna Dayal, among others.

The film, according to The Cinema Post review, follows Das (Lokesh), who is a part of a group being hunted by the police for armed robbery and several other crimes. While Das’ emotional past binds him to the women he encounters, including singer Parvathy (Sanjana K) and Chandra (Wamiqa Gabbi), who was sold to a brothel as a teenager, DC offers a gritty take on vigilantism and familial bonds that refuse to let go.

DC is a very violent film that embraces all the gore, blood, and stylistic excess but remains surprisingly tender at its core. It was noted that Lokesh finds a role suiting his screen presence in Arun’s film, with Anirudh’s music elevating the narrative several notches. Most importantly, what works for the film is that Arun managed to present an enjoyable cinematic experience.
