Mixed response to theatrical release
Released in theatres on October 2, Anbil Avan received mixed reviews from critics. While some reviews appreciated the performances and technical aspects, others felt that the film's narrative lost focus as it shifted between romance and action.
The film's transition from a relationship-driven story to a thriller also became a talking point in reviews. Its OTT release could help it find a new audience, particularly among viewers who prefer discovering Tamil films on streaming platforms.
With Ashok Selvan and Preity Mukhundan leading the cast, the film will now look to extend its reach through its digital release. Anbil Avan is expected to stream on Sony LIV on October 30, 2026, subject to official confirmation of the premiere date.
