The first-look poster of Zera, directed by cinematographer-director Sujith Vasudev, has been revealed. The movie is currently in production, with further updates expected shortly. The script is co-written by Ashwin Prakash, Sreejith K, and Elson Biswas. Meenakshi Unnikrishnan, Sagar Surya and Aswin are playing prominent roles in this movie. Zera features music composed by Don Vincent.
The poster features a female character gazing forward with a robotic lens for an eye, strongly hinting that the film will be a female-led science-fiction drama. While science fiction remains an evolving genre in Malayalam cinema, female-led sci-fi projects have started gaining traction with some of the recent releases such as Krishand’s Masthishka Maranam, Bhavana-starrer Anomie and Kalyani Priyadarshan’s Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra.
Sujith Vasudev is a celebrated cinematographer and director in the Malayalam film industry. After establishing a strong reputation with his visual work on hits like Drishyam, Memories, 7th Day, Punyalan Agarbattis, and Lucifer, he stepped into directing with the Prithviraj-led drama James and Alice. Zera will serve as his third directorial outing.
Kavya Film Company, headed by Venu Kunnappilly, is a well-known Malayalam production house recognised for crafting films that balance commercial popularity with artistic quality. Their productions include critically acclaimed hits such as Malikappuram, 2018, Rekhachithram, and Aadu 3.
Meenakshi gained widespread popularity following her charming performances in Vaazha and Nellikampoyyil Nightriders, while Sagar Surya has established himself as one of Malayalam cinema's busiest young actors thanks to his breakout roles in Pani and Prakambanam.
