Filming has concluded for Mayan, directed by Jithin K Jose and starring Jayasurya, with production wrapping up in Pala, Kottayam. Produced by Rajeev Govindan, the film is confirmed for a worldwide theatrical release on December 3, 2026.

The production spanned locations starting in Russia before shifting to its final leg in Kerala. Scripted jointly by Rafi and Jithin K Jose, the project marks Jithin's follow-up directorial effort after the success of Kalamkaval (starring Mammootty). It is also the third venture for the production house, following hit releases such as Kunchacko Boban’s Ordinary and Prithviraj Sukumaran-starrer Anarkali.

Titled Mayan: Chapter 1 and carrying the tagline "Beyond the Shadows," the upcoming mystery thriller stars Jayasurya as a police officer alongside Nyla Usha in the female lead, with Vijay Babu, Aishwarya Raj, and Jibin Gopinath in prominent roles. Promoted through an intriguing title teaser, the film promises a fresh approach to the genre. Rather than following conventional tropes, the story plunges audiences into a mysterious narrative centred on centuries-old secret rituals and occult forces spanning global borders.

Speculation is mounting over whether the narrative will feature Karuthachan-ootu, an ancient dark sorcery ritual linked to certain traditional Christian families in Kerala, though the makers have yet to officially clarify its inclusion. On the technical front, the film features cinematography by Faisal Ali, an original soundtrack composed by Mujeeb Majeed, and editing by Praveen Prabhakar. It is yet to be confirmed if the movie will have a sequel or prequel. Further updates are expected in the coming days.
