Superstar Rajinikanth’s “Jailer 2” is continuing its phenomenal run at the box office, with the action entertainer grossing approximately Rs 424 crore worldwide. The Nelson Dilipkumar directorial is now marching towards the prestigious Rs 500-crore milestone, having registered a strong opening weekend across domestic and overseas markets.
Released in theatres on October 15, “Jailer 2” has emerged as one of the biggest box-office performers of the year. According to Sacnilk, the film’s worldwide gross collection reached Rs 424.25 crore after its first four days, putting it within striking distance of the Rs 500-crore mark. The film needs approximately Rs 76 crore more to achieve the milestone.
“Jailer 2” witnesses a strong weekend recovery
The Rajinikanth-starrer opened to an impressive response, collecting Rs 59.70 crore net in India on its first day. However, the film witnessed a decline on Friday, earning Rs 37.10 crore net.
The sequel subsequently regained momentum over the weekend. It collected Rs 47.25 crore net on Saturday, followed by a strong Rs 55.85 crore net on Sunday. The Sunday collection registered an increase of around 18% compared with Saturday, indicating sustained audience interest during the extended opening run.
With this, the film’s total domestic net collection reached Rs 199.90 crore, while its India gross stood at Rs 234.25 crore. Its overseas gross collection reportedly reached Rs 190 crore, taking the worldwide total to Rs 424.25 crore.

Tamil version leads the box-office race
The Tamil version continues to be the biggest contributor to the film’s domestic earnings, with the Telugu version also adding substantially to the total. The Hindi and Kannada versions have further contributed to its pan-Indian box-office performance.
The film’s overseas business has also played a crucial role in its impressive worldwide total. The combination of Rajinikanth’s star power, the franchise’s established popularity and the film’s action-entertainer appeal has helped it attract audiences across multiple markets.
Jailer 2: Racing towards Rs 500 crore
The immediate target for “Jailer 2” is to cross Rs 500 crore worldwide, a milestone that now appears within reach given its strong opening-weekend performance. However, its performance on weekdays and the extent to which it can sustain audience interest will be crucial in determining how quickly it gets there.
With Rajinikanth reprising his popular role as Tiger Muthuvel Pandian, Nelson Dilipkumar returning to direct and Anirudh Ravichander composing the music, the sequel brings back the key creative combination behind the 2023 blockbuster “Jailer”. The film also features prominent appearances by Mohanlal and Shivarajkumar, alongside an ensemble cast.
