On May 18, the much-awaited trailer of Ram Charan’s Peddi dropped, featuring the actor as a multi-disciplinary sportsman – a trailblazer cricketer, wrestler and runner. The actor is paired with Janhvi Kapoor in the film and if her portions from the trailer are anything to go by, it seems that her role is meant to cater to the ‘male gaze’. The actress’ figure, cleavage and navel, get ample screentime, making some netizens wonder if that is all that her stylist is allowed to present her in onscreen.

Comments ranged from, “Peddi feels like a mass masala movie from 2010 and Janhvi was the worst”, Looks like Janhvi waked from the set of Devara to Peddi; same- same”, “Janhvi will spoil the flow until unless there are a couple of solid scenes to elevate her”, “Janhvi Kapoor’s Telugu characters, whether it is in Devara or in Peddi are disgrace to the women hood. Hope she stops accepting such roles”, “What's wrong with Janhvi costume design”, “Janhvi Kapoor in every Telugu movie. Genuine question for her tho, when is she gonna do something substantial aprt from showing her body?” and more.

The actress is reported to have dubbed for herself in Peddi, and netizens have called out her accent and murder of the Vizianagaram slang. The response to her dialogue delivery in Telugu is just as vehement as her Malayalam in Param Sundari.

Peddi, which releases on June 4, with paid premieres on June 3, also stars Kannada star Shivarajkumar in a pivotal role, as well as Jagapathi Babu, Divyendu Sharma, Boman Irani, among others.
