Patriot, the much-awaited Mahesh Narayanan directed spy thriller that brought Mammootty and Mohanlal back together onscreen, released in theatres on May 1, 2026. The film, which explored the fallout of surveillance technology in the hands of a corrupt private organization, had a phenomenal opening weekend, but was not able to sustain that momentum thereafter, once word spread about its mediocre presentation. At the time of the release, though, Patriot’s digital and satellite streaming rights had already been sold, with Zee Network scooping up both.

The platform has now announced when Patriot will be available to stream. A little while ago, it was officially announced that Patriot will drop on Zee5 on June 5, 2026. The film, which also stars the likes of Darshana Rajendran, Zarin Shihab, Fahadh Faasil, Kunchacko Boban, Nayanthara, Rajiv Menon, Revathi, Prakash Belawadi, Shaheen Siddique, Indrans, Grace Antony, among others, featured music by Sushin Shyam.

Patriot revolves around Mammootty’s Daniel James, a scientist for the Indian government’s defence and research organisation, who is forced to go on the run, when a spyware that was developed under his supervision, is handed to a private corporation, which, in turn, begins to use it against people across board.

On foreign soil, Daniel becomes a social media influencer, telling the world about the perils of such spyware, while also trying to clear his name and bring those who have been misusing the technology to task. Fahadh’s performance as the main villain in the tale was widely criticised, while the presence of actors like Nayanthara, Revathi and even Darshana were not justified with meaty roles. The much anticipated Mammootty-Mohanlal team up also was not the spectacle that most expected, based on which the film received overwhelmingly negative to average reviews.
