Megastar Chiranjeevi’s much-awaited socio-fantasy film Vishwambhara has finally taken a major step towards its theatrical release, with the film’s digital deal said to be finally closed. According to industry buzz, Amazon Prime Video has acquired the OTT rights for around ₹55 crore. Reports suggest that Amazon was keen on clarity regarding the film’s theatrical release before closing the deal.
Interestingly, the latest talk is that UV Creations has given an assurance that Vishwambhara will be released during the Sankranthi 2027 window. This reported commitment is said to have played a role in Amazon agreeing to the deal at the quoted price. However, the exact release date is yet to be officially announced. A recent report says the final decision could be taken within a week, with Chiranjeevi expected to have the final say.
The OTT deal is significant because Vishwambhara has been facing delays for over two years now. The film required extensive CGI and VFX work, while the delay in closing its non-theatrical business also became one of the factors affecting its release plans.
With the digital rights reportedly locked, the makers now have more clarity to move ahead with the theatrical strategy. This makes things interesting as Chiranjeevi's yet another film, Kaaka, is all set to release on January 13, 2026. That means two Chiranjeevi films will release in the same week.
Directed by Vassishta, Vishwambhara stars Chiranjeevi in the lead, with Trisha Krishnan and Ashika Ranganath in important roles. M.M. Keeravani is composing the music.
