It spent over 40 days at the box office and not only became the Onam 2026 winner, but also went on to become the highest grossing Malayalam film ever. And now, director Girish AD’s Nivin Pauly-Mamitha Baiju led Bethlehem Kudumba Unit is ready for a whole different audience with its OTT release slated for October 2, 2026 on JioHotstar. The platform had picked up the streaming rights prior to the theatrical outing and while it was initially thought that the film would drop on JioHotstar after 4 weeks, its phenomenal box office performance pushed that date ahead.


Now that Bethlehem Kudumba Unit is finally ready for its OTT outing, here’s a look at how much the film is said to have amassed at the box office and the target it has now set other films to aim for to achieve the highest grosser tag. According to tracking site sacnilk.com, Bethlehem Kudumba Unit boasts a worldwide gross collection of Rs 330 crore, almost all of which has come from the Malayalam original version, even though the film had dubbed releases in Tamil and Telugu. This figure is at least Rs 26 crore more than 2025’s big hit Lokah Chapter 1, making the film only the second to break into the Rs 300 cr club.

Bethlehem Kudumba Unit was Nivin’s maiden collaboration with Girish AD, while Mamitha is the filmmaker’s regular collaborator (Super Sharanya, Premalu). The film revolves around Nivin’s character Justin’s relationship with the much younger Ashley (Mamitha). The film also stars Sangeeth Prathap, Roshan Navas, Suresh Krishna, Vinay Forrt, Shyam Mohan, Srinda, among others. Ajmal Sabu is credited with cinematography while Vishnu Vijay scored the music.


Nivin had a major comeback of sorts with 2025’s Sarvam Maya, which is said to have made Rs 150 crore worldwide and is available on JioHotstar. His subsequent outings – Baby Girl and Prathichaya – did not work well, as also his OTT debut, Pharma. Bethlehem Kudumba Unit has given the actor’s career a major fillip, but his new Tamil film, Yezhu Kadal Yezhu Malai, which released on October 1, 2026, has opened to mixed feedback.
